Small Grants for Volunteering Programme
This scheme is designed to encourage and support volunteering by supporting as wide a range of volunteering opportunities as possible. Grants are available to small locally based volunteer-involving organisations which involve a volunteer team of at least 40% of people not in paid work. Examples of those which could apply include community groups, women's groups, local development groups, childcare and support groups, single issues organisations and youth groups.
Applications for this year have now closed. The next round of available funding isanticipated to be February 2010.

Women Caring Trust
Bridge Building Grants
November 2009
We are actively looking for organisations to submit applications for grants between £5,000 and £10,000. The Trust is looking for projects which aim to build bridges between communities through creative activities such as music, dance, drama, or the arts. We will also consider collaborative activities such as hiking, mountaineering, or orienteering. We are particularly keen to support projects that comprise team work and have a defined output for example preparing for a concert or planning a camping trip to the Mourne Mountains. We want to encourage collaboration among young people by encouraging them to work together to achieve a common aim be it musical, theatrical or practical . At the end of this activity we hope that the young people involved will have gained both a new skill as well as a better understanding of each other's community. Priority will be given to applications that demonstrate cultural inclusion and promotion of good relations.
This grant round will open on 1 January 2010 and the deadline for submissions is 28 February 2010. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of March 2010. Please note WCT will not fund:
- Individuals
- Salary costs (although it is expected that a certain amount of the grant will cover co-coordinator's fees)
- Capital costs
- National organisations
- Publications or research (unless as the output of a project eg a book of artwork)
- Playgroups or mother and toddlers groups
- Projects taking place outside Ireland eg foreign travel or expeditions
- Projects devoted solely to the welfare of those with learning of physical disabilities
The Pilgrim Trust
The Pilgrim Trust supports projects that provide training, information and discussion, helping people to understand and address issues of prejudice, community violence and cultural difference. The Trust is also interested in projects which assist people involved in crime, alcohol or drug misuse to change their lives and find new opportunities.
