Why Not Ask Me?
08 May 2007
A research study into volunteering and community relations amongst young people in Belfast
BBC’s John Daly launched, “Why Not Ask Me?”, a study into volunteering and community relations amongst young people in Belfast, on 16 April 2007. The Research, which updated VSB’s previous research “One Foot in the Door” published in 1998, showed that young people feel volunteering has a huge impact on their lives. They strongly believe that they are making a massive difference to the people with whom they volunteer and in their community. One young person said:
“Volunteering is an experience that benefits me greatly in every aspect of day to day life, qualities I learn such as confidence, being a good team player, self esteem, being able to address a group of people. It is enjoyable, worthwhile and I just love it!”
