North Down & Ards Volunteer Centre
The North Down & Ards acts as a bridge to those who wish to become actively involved in the community and supports partner agencies who wish to avail of the support of volunteers.
Our work includes:
- Recruit, support and train volunteers
- Initiate, develop and support volunteering opportunities
- Provides support and best practice advice to local voluntary and community groups
We assist individuals to find voluntary placements with local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups. Anyone can volunteer, whether you have can spare one hour a week or a few days a week - any time you give can make a huge difference!
Volunteering is a useful way to keep help others, gain new skills and experience, meet new friends and have fun! You can volunteer to make use of your work skills, take up something you have as a hobby, or learn new skills. Volunteering can help with career development and does not effect your existing benefits.
There are over 500 volunteers registered with us. Placements range from environmental work, sorting donations in charity shops, and assisting individuals with brain injury regain conversation skills and volunteer driving.
A quarterly Newssheet is sent to volunteers and partner agencies and includes articles on good practice, training and funding opportunities, local events and volunteer vacancies. If you would like to register with VSB, please sign up.
