Volunteer Now Enniskillen

Volunteering is "the commitment of time and energy by individuals for the benefit of the community. It is undertaken freely and by choice and without personal financial gain"

New Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Now is based in Fermanagh House which is in the heart of the local community and is home to many organisations.

Maeve Donaghy from the North West manages the office recruiting, matching and  promoting volunteer opportunities, and match local people to local need.

Volunteer Now is committed to equal opportunities and believe that volunteering should be open to everyone. We endeavour to enable participation by socially excluded groups and work with volunteers with specific support needs: the unemployed, people in receipt of benefits, disabled people, young people and the over 55s. Volunteering has many benefits; volunteering offers the potential to maintain skills, development of new skills, increase your confidence, improve your health and enhance your CV or UCAS forms. Overall, the chance to become involved in your community and improve your community!

Transport Buddying Service

DO YOU HAVE SOME FREE TIME?

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP PEOPLE LIVING IN YOUR COMMUNITY?

Volunteer Now in conjunction with the Department for Regional Development, are piloting a buddying scheme to encourage people to use the Door to Door transport service.

The project will initially be delivered in the Dungannon and Strabane areas.

Transport Buddies are required to help isolated older people and adults who have difficulties accessing public transport to avail of the Door to Door service and participate in their local community. Examples of typical journeys would be to lunch / social clubs, doctor’s appointments or a weekly shopping trip. The aim is that the client will build their confidence to the point where they can travel independently.

Volunteer Now is also keen to hear from you if would like to use the service or if you know of a family member, friend or neighbour who could benefit from this type of support.

Volunteer Now is looking for volunteers who can spare a couple of hours a week to help make this valuable scheme a success. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to gain accredited and free training in Passenger Assistance, Disability Awareness and First Aid.

The scheme coordinator will guide you through the training process and provide ongoing support. Volunteers travel and out of pocket expenses will be provided. This is a great way to gain valuable skills, meet new people and give something back to your local community.
